How long does it take to unblock a drain?

Clearing a straightforward blockage usually takes under an hour on site. Getting there is the variable and it depends on your address and what else is running. We answer within 15 minutes and tell you honestly whether we can be with you tonight.

How much does it cost to unblock a drain in Dublin?

It depends on how bad the blockage is, where it sits, how far the van travels and what time you ring. You get the figure on the phone before anyone leaves, and it does not move when we arrive.

What counts as a drain emergency?

Sewage coming up inside, a manhole overflowing, the only toilet in the house blocked, or a commercial kitchen that cannot trade. If water is rising and you cannot stop it, it should not wait until morning.

Who pays for a blocked drain in a rented house?

Usually the landlord. Under the Housing (Standards for Rented Houses) Regulations 2019, landlords must keep plumbing and drainage in good repair. If wipes or fat caused it, the tenant can be liable. We clear it either way and invoice whoever booked us.

Can I unblock a drain myself?

A plunger is worth a try on a sink or a toilet. Drain cleaner is not. It rarely shifts a real blockage, it sits in the pipe, and it makes the line unsafe for whoever opens it. If a plunger does not move it, ring a drainage company.

Why does my drain keep blocking?
