Rodding
A rod is pushed through the blockage until water moves again. Quick and cheap, and fine for a one-off.
Drain jetting
If the same drain blocks every few months, that is coating on the pipe wall rather than a single clog. That is jetting's job.
One slow sink is local. When the whole bathroom or the kitchen and utility drain slowly together, the restriction sits further down the shared run.
A food business cannot close for a blocked line. Jetting cuts the fat off the walls and buys months of clear running between grease trap maintenance.
Rods do nothing in a large main run. Site drainage and gullies get the tanker-and-reel setup, sized to what the access allows.

Modern plastic and sound clay handle high pressure water without trouble. On a healthy line, jetting cleans it and does no harm at all.
The pipe was already failing under the muck. Jetting clears the debris and shows the fault that was there all along.
We ask how old the property is, and on anything we are unsure of the camera goes down before the jetter. You do not jet blind on an old line.
If the line is too far gone, jetting will not save it and could make it worse. We tell you straight rather than push on.

We had an extremely positive experience with Davis Drain Services. Within minutes of calling them out of hours, they arrived to our house to clear a blocked septic tank. It was pumped out promptly before returning the following morning to rectify the issue. At all times they made us feel at ease and explained everything to us clearly. While on site they also provided helpful advice on how to rectify heating issues we were having. We would have no hesitation recommending them for both drainage and plumbing works. Thanks to Alec and team.Posted on Google![]()

Just had Alec out to look at an issue with my boiler. We were without heat and he arrived so quickly after being contacted. He was able to pinpoint the issue straight away and had it fixed in minutes. I also asked advice on an issue with my drains that I have been encountering for a few years and he was able to give me advice on how fix it. Thank you Alec, I am very grateful for all you help.Posted on Google![]()

Jetting does not damage a healthy pipe. It can finish off one that was already cracked, so we check first.

Drain jetting is a way of cleaning a pipe with high pressure water. A hose with a specialised nozzle is fed into the drain, and the water strips fat, silt, scale and roots off the pipe wall, so the full width of the line comes back.
Drain jetting does not damage a sound pipe. Modern plastic and solid clay handle high pressure water easily. The risk is only an old pipe that is already cracked or crumbling, and jetting tends to uncover that fault rather than cause it. That is why we camera older lines first.
Drain jetting shears out fine root growth and clears the line. Heavier root ingress needs specialist root cutting first, then jetting to wash the debris away. Either way, roots inside a pipe mean there is a crack letting them in, which is worth looking at.
