The things people ask us before booking a survey.

How much does a CCTV drain survey cost in Ireland?

It depends on how much pipework is surveyed, how many access points the property has, and whether the lines need jetting or tracing first. A single run costs less than a full domestic system. We price every survey before it is booked, so you know the figure before anything starts.

How long does a CCTV drain survey take?

A standard domestic survey usually takes one to two hours on site. Larger properties, or systems that have to be traced because no drainage plan exists, take longer. We give you a realistic idea when we quote, rather than after we arrive.

What is included in a CCTV drain survey report?

Five things: the full colour recording, a still image of every defect with its distance along the pipe, a written condition report, a plan showing where your drains run, and a recommendation for anything found. All of it is yours to keep.

Do I need a drain survey when buying a house in Ireland?

Nothing in a standard purchase inspects the drains. A valuation looks at market value and an engineer’s report stops at the structure, so the drainage stays unopened until you own it. A CCTV drain survey is the only way to see the condition of the pipework before you sign.

Do I need a CCTV drain survey for a build over agreement?

Usually, yes. Uisce Éireann only permits building over a public sewer in limited circumstances, and you have to establish where their assets sit before applying. A CCTV survey locates the line, records its depth and condition, and gives you the evidence the application needs.

Does a CCTV drain survey mean digging up the garden?

No. The camera goes in through an existing manhole, rodding eye or access point, so nothing is lifted or excavated to carry out the survey. Digging only comes into it if a repair is agreed afterwards, and most repairs are done through the manhole too.

Can I use a drain survey report to negotiate the price of a house?

Yes, and that is one of the main reasons buyers book one. A written report with dated images of each defect gives your solicitor something concrete to raise. Sellers are far more likely to move on price when the problem is documented rather than described.

What happens if the survey finds a problem with my drains?

You get told what it is, where it sits and how serious it is, with a recommendation for putting it right. We carry out repairs ourselves, but the report belongs to you and you are free to take it to any contractor.
